Rome (Day 1)

Day one began the trip with a bang. After regrouping with Halie at the airport, we took the train into the city in hopes of meeting our CouchSurfing host at Tiburtina Station. To our good fortune, free WiFi is nearly impossible to find in Rome, leaving us without ability to contact our host or search for other accommodations. Most of the midday was spend wandering around several areas of the city (with our luggage) attempting to find a room. The only hotels that were not completely booked were available for 200 EURO for one night. It looked like we might end up spending the night on a park bench. We ended up in an internet bar in looking for help in finding a hostel where we made contact with our CouchSufing host. Miraculously, we ended up with a bed to sleep in... for free.

After a regroup, the afternoon was spent wandering around the Colosseum, forum, and campidoglio before finding dinner in Piazza della Rotonda (Pantheon). To finish the evening, we visited the Trevi Fountain, and the armies of tourists surrounding it.
